November 26-30, 2012

We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break! What nice weather we were able to enjoy here. We are getting back into the swing of things in Pre-K and are ending the month with a review of what we have been studying. We will be having an evening winter program in December, I will post the date and time as soon as it is finalized.

Monthly themes:

Thanksgiving
Social Studies: Native Americans
Science: Forest animals
Literacy: Letters P, N, and B
Math: Matching and comparing and numbers 7, 8, 9, and 10 with review
Shape and color: Triangle and brown


Weekly centers:

Dramatic play: playdough bakery
Art: Nature painting (using sticks, rocks, and other things found in nature instead of paint brushes!)
Literacy: Story time (looking at books and telling the story by looking at pictures to one of our stuffed animal friends)
Movement: Velcro target practice
Large motor: Train table

Academics at a glance:

Monday:
-Literacy: Review of the letters P, N, and B by collaborating on words that start with those letters for our alphabet wall
-Math: Number 9
Tuesday:
Spanish and music
Wednesday: -Social Studies: Since last week was shortened we will be writing the letter B today
-Science: Forest animals
Thursday:
-Literacy: Review letters P, N, and B by making flash cards
-Math: matching and comparing
Friday:
show and tell and library


Show and tell Fridays: something that is fluffy or soft
Reminders: Please make sure your child's cubby has extra clothing (multiple pairs of underwear, socks, a shirt, and a pair of shorts or pants) and bring a water bottle every day. Water bottles can be left and we ask that you take them home your child's last day of the week to rinse out.
