October 8-12, 2012

Hope everyone had a great weekend! This week I am going to send our "book buddy bag" home with someone in our class. The book buddy bag has a stuffed animal zebra named Elmer, a book , and a folder with some journal pages inside. The child chosen will get to keep Elmer at home for a couple of days, there will be a return date attached to the bag. We have talked about how to take care of Elmer and keep him clean for the next classmate. Parents, you can help write on the journal pages and your child can illustrate in the blank boxes. They are really excited to take Elmer home! Every child will get a turn to take him home, it will just take a while to get through the whole class.

Book-it: We will be starting the Book-it reading program this month. You will recieve a calendar and have your child color each day he/she is read to. It is not required to read every day, be we encourage it. At the end of the month bring back the calendar and your child will recieve a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut!

Fall Party: We will be having a class party on Wednesday, October 31st from 10:15 to 11:00. Parents are welcome to volunteer or just come and enjoy the party. Students are allowed to dress up in costumes, but no face paint or scary outfits.

Reminders: Please make sure your child's cubby has extra clothing (multiple pairs of underwear, socks, a shirt, and a pair of shorts or pants) and bring a water bottle every day. Water bottles can be left and we ask that you take them home your child's last day of the week to rinse out.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact us in person or by e-mail. Have a wonderful week!
